Filming your

cinematic keepsakes

Wedding films and photography in Santa Fe, New Mexico and San Diego, California, and anywhere you are getting married. With expertise in documentary and cinematic style filmmaking, I artfully preserve and celebrate your unique moments to create an aesthetic that is truly, authentically you.

Lief has traveled all over the country to capture special moments in film.

What does a Sunfire film actually look like?

Think documentary with a cinematic eye. I shoot the day as it happens on two cinema cameras with real audio from your vows and toasts, then cut it into a four to seven minute film that feels the way the day felt. The gallery has six of them if you want to see for yourself.

Will there be a camera in our faces all day?

No. The best moments happen when people forget I am there, so I work quietly and from a distance, and I only step in when something needs a hand, like the first look or portraits. You will barely notice me until you watch the film.

Can one person do both the film and the photos?

Yes, and it is my favourite way to work. Every package comes as film, as stills, or as both together, so you get one person who knows your day instead of two teams competing for the same moment.

What is The Creative Approach?

It is the part of The Director’s Cut where we stop recording a wedding and start making a movie. You pick one of three: a two camera interview filmed right after the ceremony, your wedding cut as a movie trailer, or a short film we write and shoot together before the day.

We are eloping. Is that too small for a film?

Not at all. The two hour engagement and four hour elopement packages exist for exactly this, and some of my favourite films are two people and an officiant somewhere beautiful.

Do you travel?

Everywhere. I am based in Santa Fe and San Diego and have filmed in Chicago, Austin, Portland and all over New Mexico. Travel is included from The Wedding package up, and if you live in New Mexico or San Diego you get 10% off.

What does it cost?

Films start at $1,200 for an engagement, $2,100 for an elopement, $2,900 for a six hour wedding, $3,500 for the eight hour Love Story and $5,500 for The Director’s Cut. Photography and combined packages are on the Investment page.

How do we start?

Send me a note or book a time on the calendar. We talk first, about your day and what you want to remember, and then I build the package around it.
